Looking Back On a Great Plant Sale


Just a week ago, volunteers congregated at the tent to begin work on the 18th Annual Friends Plant Sale. The Arboretum staff had already delivered the knocked-down shelving, so teams began work setting them units up. Soon, whirring screwdrivers and banging boards led to dozens of shelf modules filling the tent.

From the Springfest Garden Show: "We are pleased to offer your members the opportunity to attend the Springfest Garden Show at discounted prices. The 17th annual show, scheduled for March 14-17 at the Sussex County Fairgrounds, will be bigger and better than ever! Proceeds are used to promote horticulture, environmental stewardship and educational activities."

Happy Thanksgiving

We are happy to say that the Arboretum is open again following Hurricane Sandy. We hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving and stop by for a visit over this holiday weekend.


Pictures of Hurricane Sandy Damage at The Frelinghuysen Arboretum

Hurricane Sandy severely damaged a number of the Arboretum's fine specimens, as seen in this group of pictures taken over the past few days by Gwen Montgomery. The grounds staff has months of work ahead of them repairing as best they can the damage wrought here.

Arboretum Still Closed

Sad to say, The Frelinghuysen Arboretum is still closed as a result of Hurricane Sandy. According to the latest from the Morris County Park Commission, this will continue at least through Friday, November 9th. Check their site (or here) for updates.

Gingerbread Entry Deadline Extended

With cleanup from Hurricane Sandy on everyone's minds, we have extended the exhibitor's entry deadline from Friday, November 16th to Friday, November 23rd. Read all about the Gingerbread Wonderland and download the entry form here on our Events page.

Hurricane Update

Sad to say, all Morris County 's parks, except the Mennen Sports Arena, will remain closed through Wednesday, November 7th. Good luck to all getting back on your feet following this awful storm.
