Frelinghuysen Arboretum Picked as Best in NJ
We were very pleased to hear that NJ Monthly Magazine's readers chose us as a winner in their 2011 Best of New Jersey poll. We were picked as the Best Public Garden / Arboretum in the state.
Visit soon to see what we have known all along, that the Frelinghuysen Arboretum is a truly splendid place year round.
Must Have Plants for Every Garden
Interested in a preview of some of the great plants at the Plant Sale? Join Plant Sale Co-Chair, Sue Acheson on Saturday, April 9th at 10am for a morning's fun as she presents a slide show entitled, Must Have Plants for Every Garden. This talk will feature many of the great plants available at this year's Best Ever Plant Sale and includes some really great slides.
Better yet, we're trying something new this year: people attending the slide show will be able to pre-purchase from a list of 15 featured plants. Plants ordered now will be available for pickup at the Plant Sale in May.
So, remember to be there at 10am this coming Saturday, April 9th to see and hear about the plants and to get your order in early.
Speaking of the Plant Sale, our Plant Sale Co-chairs, Sue Acheson and Ilona Ontscherenki have got most of the plants on order and are doing the myriad of planning activities involved with putting a sale of this magnitude together. Follow their progress on our Plant Sale page where you can see regularly updated articles, pictures and -- best of all, our On-line plant list.
Remember the dates for the Plant Sale: - Friday May 6th (4-7pm) for the Members-only Party and Sale and
- Saturday, May 7th (9am-3pm) for The Main Event.
Plants of China: A Friendship and Peace Exhibit and Cell Phone Tour
The Friends of the Frelinghuysen Arboretum are pleased to join UPS, Provident Bank Foundation and the Morris County Parks Commission in sponsoring the second part of Plants of China: A Friendship and Peace Exhibit and Cell Phone Tour (the first part was last Fall). This is one of many such programs at the Frelinghuysen Arboretum that provides visitors with extensive cultural and horticultural background of many of the Chinese transplants growing in all our gardens.
The exhibit guide (click on the image at right for a large pdf in both English and Chinese) provides background horticultural information, as well as tour directions.
