VIRTUAL ZOOM PROGRAM
If you're not quite ready to travel but yearn to see beautiful English gardens, join Friends board member Judy Snow for a virtual tour of 10 amazing gardens in Cornwall and Devon.
We'll see plants ranging from unique succulents to towering palm trees, deep borders of gorgeous perennials and many more. In addition to the gardens, we'll look in at Port Isaac (where the Doc Martin series is filmed), Wells Cathedral and Stonehenge.
NOTE RESCHEDULED DATE FOR THE FOLLOWING PROGRAM
Tuesday, September 27 - 7:00 PM -- NEW DATE
VIRTUAL ZOOM PROGRAM
A garden water feature can be anything from a birdbath to a large Versailles-type installation with sculptures and fountains. Whatever the size or type you choose, it will dramatically alter your landscape, broaden the palette of plants you can cultivate and enhance your garden for wildlife. Dr. Grimwade will consider the ideal site for a pond, styles of construction, equipment, plants and maintenance. Regardless of the style and size of your garden, there is a water feature for you!
Alexander (Sandy) Grimwade has been an avid, life-long gardener in Britain, the Netherlands and the United States, and currently serves as webmaster for the Delaware Valley Water Garden Society (DVWGS). He has constructed his own backyard pond and advised DVWGS members and many others on construction and management of their water features. Sandy is a Penn State Master Gardener and a volunteer guide and plant advisor at Pennsylvania Horticultural Society events.
This program is eligible for 1.0 Rutgers Master Gardener CEU.
TODAY AT THE FRELINGHUYSEN ARBORETUM
Thanks to a few showers yesterday, the humidity is down and it feels much cooler today, what a relief! The Gardens next to Matilda's cottage are blooming beautifully in a riot of colors, textures, shapes and heights. There are bright red Daylilies (Hemerocallis), light pink Hardy Hibiscus (Hibiscus moscheutos), mauve Cluster Top Vervain (Verbena bonariensis), tall white Tobacco plants (Nicotiana), bright orange Turks Cap Lilies (Lilium superbum), and several decorative dry Allium giganteum (Giant Onion) seed heads. Plan to visit soon, these are not the only gardens in bloom.
