HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

In the words of Joyce Giraud: "Thanksgiving is one of my favorite days of the year because it reminds us to give thanks and to count our blessings. Suddenly, so many things become so little when we realize how blessed and lucky we are."

Best wishes from the Friends of The Frelinghuysen Arboretum for a wonderful holiday in the company of family and friends.

BERRIES, BERRIES AND MORE BERRIES

Chilly, rainy and windy at the Arboretum today, but even so, there was beauty to be found. Many white berries adorn the branches of Callicarpa japonica cv. Leucocarpa (White fruited Beautyberry) on a shrub in the upper parking lot. The many bright red berries on Ilex verticillata 'Red Sprite" (Winterberry Holly cultivar) are certainly a welcome sight on a cloudy, dreary day. And the purple berries of Callicarpa dichotoma "Issai" (Purple Beautyberry cultivar) are an unexpected and welcome sight.

PARK INFORMATION

The Frelinghuysen Arboretum is a facility of
the Morris County Park Commission

• Frelinghuysen, Willowwood and Bamboo Brook Arboreta grounds are open 7 days a week, from 8am to dusk
• The Haggerty Education Center is now open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The building remains closed on Sundays and Mondays.
• Parking is limited. Other buildings remain closed. Portajohns are available.
• HUNTING IN THE PARKS - See the Morris County Park Commission website.
