Speaker: Photographer, Rob Cardillo
Saturday, February 8 - 1:00 PM (Snow Date: Sunday, February 9)
In person at The Frelinghuysen Arboretum
Even if you can't attend, please consider purchasing a ticket to support this program. Your generosity will help the Friends' mission to provide a scholarship to Landscape Technology Program students at County College of Morris, like Dave DePodwin (featured in last week's eblast), who work diligently to see that good landscape practices become the norm in our towns. We all benefit from such tireless dedication to the craft of garden design.
If you can attend, you will enjoy a presentation by well-known professional garden photographer Rob Cardillo. Rob will illustrate how he crafts sweeping landscapes and compelling plant closeups through a series of engaging stories. Using examples from his many books and magazine projects, he will show how he doesn't always get it right the first time and how perseverance and patience pay off in the end. You'll leave with new ideas and new techniques to help you find and translate your own vision of Eden, even if you only use an iPhone!
The presentation will be followed by a book sale and signing.
Light refreshments will be served.

No chance to visit the Arboretum this week, but here are some photos taken of the grounds following snowfalls in past years. The herm at the end of the Holly walk wearing a jaunty snow cap; the red barn in the hollow on the left as you drive up the road to the Haggerty Education Center; the Mansion following a winter storm; the frozen pond in front of Matilda's Cottage surrounded by snow. These timeless images are repeated over the years as the grounds are blanketed with freshly fallen snow. Schedule a visit soon, and enjoy the quiet beauty of the grounds in winter.
