2024 Plant Sale Preview – Native Ferns for Northern New Jersey with Jean Epiphan

This presentation will share the diversity of ferns indigenous to Northern New Jersey as well as their ecological importance and environmental benefits. Each species’ characteristics will be reviewed in detail, including how exactly to identify and differentiate them, what their site preferences are and their tolerances, plus how to best incorporate them into your garden and landscape.
Jean Epiphan is an Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent and Associate Professor, Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Morris County.
This program is eligible for 1.0 Rutgers Master Gardener CEU’s.

2024 Plant Sale Preview – Native Plants You Love for the Northeast, with Carolle Huber

This presentation will showcase some of the most important native plants for suburban gardens, why they’re important, where to plant them, their deer tolerance, and some of Carolle’s favorite combinations for your own garden. Carolle will discuss why planting natives is crucial and how
to understand cultivars.
Carolle is a Landscape Architect practicing ‘Suburban Ecology’ in New Jersey. She holds degrees in both Environmental Science and Landscape Architecture, has won numerous professional awards and has been published in many magazines, including Edible Jersey and Wild Ones.
This program is eligible for 1.0 Rutgers Master Gardener CEU’s.

Cooking Demonstration: Springtime Favorites, with Cynthia Triolo

Spring is finally here and what better way to celebrate the season than with some recipes to take advantage of early spring produce. We’ll be using lavender, arugula, rhubarb and other spring veggies to make some new and interesting recipes that you’ll want to add to your repertoire.
Join Chef Cynthia Triolo for a fun afternoon, sample the goodies and take the recipes home to try your hand at them.

Botanic Gardens From Coast to Coast and What We Can Learn From Them, with Sue Acheson

Join intrepid garden traveler, obsessive gardener and past Friends President, Sue Acheson, as
she takes us on a Zoom tour of “Botanic Gardens from Coast to Coast.” Sue will show seven
public gardens from California, Colorado, Missouri, Pennsylvania. and North Carolina, in all
seasons and in a broad range of climate zones.
With inspiring, beautiful photographs from each, Sue will show what we can learn from each of
these gardens to raise our home gardens to the next level.
All of these gardens are Sue’s favorites, along with many others she will save for another day.
