Sunday, June 17

Bring your Dad to this vegetable garden talk featuring The Frelinghuysen Arboretum’s Gardener, Jeanne Lardino, and Chef and Master Gardener Cynthia Triolo.

Jeanne focuses on growing techniques, etc. and once harvested, Cynthia prepares a few salads with some surprising ingredients from the garden. Recipes accompany the talk.

Thursday, June 21

Our native perennials endure winter weather and return with vigor in spring or summer without much help from us. Tour the Lindner Perennial Garden to see a great example of a well-tended perennial garden.

Join horticulturist Marc Zukovich tor a talk focusing on the principles and practices of Integrated Pest Management (IPM). Disease resistant plants, bio-rationals, systemics, nematodes and more are all part of the discussion.

The Annual Meeting of The Friends of The Frelinghuysen Arboretum took place on Sunday, June 10. Thank you to all who attended; to those of you who were unable to attend, thank you for mailing in your proxy cards.

Benjamin Blackburn Scholarships for 2018 were awarded this year to Mark Aristizabal and David DePodwin, both students at County College of Morris. Congratulations to you both!

The Friends Annual Award Winner this year is Dr. Thomas Ombrello. Congratulations!

Employment Opportunity

The Friends are looking for an experienced part-time bookkeeper/accountant to work 2-4 hours per week at the Arboretum.

The primary responsibilities are to maintain the general ledger (Quickbooks online), and to prepare checks, journal entries, and reports on a weekly basis. This paid position works closely with the Treasurer, Friends' and Arboretum employees, and other Board members.

The Home Garden Club of Morristown

11:30a - Monthly Meeting

1:00p Program - Lecture, Marc Zukovich, President of Sterling Horticultural Services and adjunct professor of County College of Morris, will speak about Rhododendron and Azaleas. This talk will cover how to purchase the right varieties for your garden, how to plant them correctly, and how to maintain their health and vigor. Slides will be shown of various cultivars of these beautiful plants.

New Affiliate Member

In July we will welcome a new Affiliate Member: The NE Judging Center of the American Orchid Society.

They will meet monthly on the third Saturday of every month, with an Annual Auction on the Third Saturday of December.

First meeting at The Frelinghuysen Arboretum is scheduled for Saturday, July 21, 2018, 10:30 AM. An Educational Program is scheduled for 12:00 PM on Orchid Judging.

Anyone may bring an orchid to be judged or listen in on the educational programs and/or judging
