2016 Gingerbread Wonderland People's Choice Award Winners As always, we are thrilled to announce the winners of the various categories of the 2016 Gingerbread Wonderland People's Choice Awards. They are sponsored by Village Shop Rite of Morristown. Congratulations to all the winners as well as to all the participants in our 25th Annual Gingerbread Wonderland.
Autumn Leaves Steve Kanan visited the Arboretum this past Sunday and was kind enough to share these beautiful photos he took of Autumn Leaves. What a beautiful time of year and how nice to have these images to remind us of it.

Though it is hard to choose from the hundreds of exhibits, nevertheless here are your webmaster's top choices from the last 5 years. You can show your creation in this year's Gingerbread Wonderland. Memorial Bench in the Linder Perennial Garden A newly installed Memorial bench in the Linder Perennial Garden is a perfect spot from which to enjoy the pastel pleasures of numerous asters and chrysanthemums, including this lovely pink mum ‚ÄòCambodian Queen.‚Äù Stop by this week for a walk to enjoy the changing colors!
Hips and Haws It‚Äôs time for hips and haws ‚Äì and the pair of Korean Mountain Ash, Sorbus alnifolia, right outside the Haggerty Education Center are ablaze with golden leaves and soft red berries. These lovely 4-season performers are also filled with birds enjoying their acerbic and astringent berries ‚Äì like the robins in this photo ‚Äì can you see them? In China, a jam is made from these berries, but we hesitate to recommend them for eating as there may be some counter indications. We do however, recommend them as a perfect small tree, topping out at about 20'.
Wave Hill - 10/15/15 We had a splendid Fall day for the Friends Trip to Wave Hill -- bright, sunny and mild. The gardens were beautiful, hinting at spectacular Fall colors to come. Wave Hill is wonderful in all seasons and is located close by in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. Their website (https://www.wavehill.org/) gives lots of information for planning your own visit.
