NEWS ABOUT THE EMAIL BLAST

For the foreseeable future, we will be publishing eblasts every two weeks instead of weekly. The next eblast will go out on May 20, 2020.

APRIL SHOWERS BRING MAY FLOWERS

According to George Latimer Apperson's "Dictionary of Proverbs", we can trace the phrase "April showers bring May flowers" to an 1886 saying: "March winds and April showers bring forth May flowers" , which might have even deeper roots in a 1610 poem.

Regardless of its origin, we frequently use the proverb to console ourselves that rainy April weather holds the promise of flowers to come. We experienced a very rainy April this year and are now in the midst of enjoying the many flowers that are beginning to burst forth, from wild Violets, Spring Beauties and Stars of Bethlehem to Azaleas, Lilacs and Redbud trees in bloom. Coupled with clear blue skies, sunny days and mid-70s weather this Spring is looking glorious, as the following photos will attest!
