Parking may be limited. All buildings will remain closed. Porta-johns will be available. All park patrons are encouraged to follow social distancing guidelines. Wearing masks is also recommended. We will keep you posted as further updates become available. GINGERBREAD WONDERLAND NEWSSince the Haggerty Education Center will remain closed through the end of the year, the Friends' Gingerbread Planning Committee is busy working on how we can bring you a Virtual Gingerbread Exhibit to celebrate the 29th year of this very popular show. FIGHT INVASIVES - GO NATIVEThursday, October 8 - 7:00 PMVIRTUAL ZOOM MEETING The Friends of The Frelinghuysen Arboretum are happy to work with the Rutgers Master Gardeners to bring you this free program. Master Gardener, Ilona Ontscherenki, will speak about the ten most common invasive plants found in Morris County and various methods to use to remove them, as well as suggestions and descriptions of native plants that can be substituted for them. Learn how to protect your landscape from these invasive plants and what you can do to help protect the environment and native habitat for wildlife. This program is free but registration is required. A Zoom link will be sent to you the morning of the event.FALL INTO WINTER GARDENINGThursday, October 22 - 7:00 PMVIRTUAL ZOOM MEETING The Friends of The Frelinghuysen Arboretum are happy to work with the Rutgers Master Gardeners to bring you this free program. Master Gardener, Gail Di Domenico, will tell you everything you need to know to get your lawn, trees, shrubs, perennials, vegetable garden and ornamental beds ready for winter. Information on extending the garden season, bulbs and vegetables to plant, as well as plants with winter and year round interest will be included. Gail will also cover the cleaning and care of your hand and power tools, and will include a handy calendar of chores and projects. This program is free but registration is required. A Zoom link will be sent to you the morning of the event.2020 TREE SYMPOSIUMNovember 10, 17, 24 December 1 and December 8 - 7:00 PMVIRTUAL ZOOM MEETING Planning has been completed for the third annual Tree Symposium, in a new format via Zoom. Speakers will present a range of intriguing tree-related topics at 7:00 PM, on five consecutive Tuesday evenings. We anticipate CEU credits will be offered.
